Reducing Stress at Work
Unconscious fears and desires create conflict and tension between thought and feeling. This conflict is the source of stress. Moment to moment we react to circumstances around us. Reactions are powerful energies and are often contaminated by negative emotions such as fear, disappointment and desire. They are communicated outwardly as forceful expression and inwardly as tension, anxiety, stress and disempowerment. They show up in the body as tight shoulders, a lump in the throat or an upset stomach. Effectiveness in the workplace is diminished by negative emotions.
In the modern, competitive corporate culture, individuals in the workplace are particularly vulnerable to feelings of tiredness, confusion and self-doubt. Over time, this negativity diminishes not only performance at work, but relationships with friends and family, and general health.
Upward Shift is a remarkably effective method of reducing stress by inquiring into the tension - so you can get on with life. When you 'tell the truth and don't get angry', you make intelligent creative choices. You improve communication in all interactions.

Enriching Life with Emotional Intelligence
Even with the best intentions, the workplace often is filled with resistance and conflict. These can quickly manifest as energetic blocks and negative attitudes. Thoughts and feelings arise in reaction and feed a negative cycle that is difficult to break, or 'shift' into a more positive state of mind.
You may have heard co-workers express frustration with such statements as, 'I get so angry at the system'. 'Sometimes I am too involved emotionally'. 'I take my bad feelings home with me, even when I don't want to’.
Upward Shift is a technique of investigating and identifying what is true from what is false, what is right and what is wrong; what unleashes potential and what blocks potential. It looks beneath the surface to underlying reality. It unblocks contracted, limited thoughts and feelings and establishes a confident and certain foundation for taking action. It builds emotional intelligence.
Individuals with emotional intelligence have the ability to overcome challenges and difficulties with greater ease. They respond appropriately to other people's emotional states and are able to express with clarity and compassion.

Solving Problems and Increasing Happiness
Upward Shift is a dynamic method of self-inquiry designed specifically for small groups in the workplace. Participants learn how to develop awareness to identify their state of mind. They learn how to determine the source of unhappy or negative emotion. By asking precise questions, they receive valuable answers. As a result, they can identify emotions as they arise, generating harmony and increasing personal empowerment.
